Foxboro Youth Lacrosse is a non-profit corporation founded in 2003. Our primary mission it to teach our youth players the game of lacrosse, and provide access to instructional and competitive lacrosse games and events. In teaching the game, we strive to provide a learning environment that is positive, fun and enriching.
We believe that all youth that participate in our program, whether they continue to play lacrosse in high school or not, should have a fulfilling experience, meet new friends, and learn important lessons about work ethic and teamwork. And for those youth that choose to play competitive lacrosse outside of our program or into high school, we strive to teach these players the most important aspects of individual skill development and team play, so that they are better prepared to compete at these advanced levels.
FYL is open to boys from 1st through 8th grade (age eligibility requirements apply). All boys, regardless of experience, skill or ability, will be placed on grade-appropriate teams that participate in the Massachusetts Bay Youth Lacrosse League. Additional information on MBYLL is provided below.
Boys with advanced skills may be invited to compete on a 2nd team that competes in the Friday Night Light (FNL) league. A player that plays on an FNL team must also play on the MBYLL team.
Girls Program FYL is open to girls from 3rd through 8th grade (age eligibility requirements apply). All girls, regardless of experience, skill or ability, will be placed on grade-appropriate teams that participate in the Massachusetts Bay Girls Lacrosse League.
MBYLL Mission, Philosophy & Goal
Mission: Promote the growth of the game of lacrosse throughout Massachusetts by providing leadership, guidance, training and structure to all town programs interested in participating in the MBYLL's eight game schedule and Jamboree held each spring.
Philosophy: All players participate equally (i.e., equal playing time) on every team in all game & league contests; and all town programs who have more than one team at ANY age level (U15, U13, U11 & U9) will use their best effort--based on the honor system--to ensure their teams are as evenly balanced as possible at every age level based on player skill, experience, age and grade at each respective age group. There are No 'A' & 'B' teams & No 'stacked' teams at any level in any town or program playing in the MBYLL. No standings are kept and No playoffs or league championships are held in the MBYLL. The MBYLL provides a safe, enjoyable, learning experience for all partcipants; and in an environment not swept up in the pressure filled, win-at-all-cost mania that is too present in today's youth sports.
Goal: All players, coaches, teams & programs reflect role-model sportsmanship behavior on and off the field while learning & teaching the fundamental skills and teamwork required to play the game of lacrosse well. The MBYLL provides training, guidance, certification and age-specific rules of play for all participating coaches & referee's with a particular focus on ensuring player safety and a positive, fun-filled experience for all involved. All MBYLL Member towns/programs continue to grow in their lacrosse knowledge and capabilities as they learn the game based on speed, stick skills, athleticism and overall teamwork--and not physical intimidation.
